Apples are one of the most widely recognized pieces of fruit in the world. Their bright ruby color and round shape make them easily discernible compared to other fruits. Similarly, this cute little add-on to your decor has bright red skin and the white interior of the fruit for its midsection, which even has little seeds dotting it. The dragon, perched upon a branch and accompanied by a ladybug, is surrounded by pink flowers on the stony base. If you want a fantastic look which stands out, but isn't garish, the apple dragon may be a perfect fit.

Arianrhod Statue

(0 reviews)
The tale of Arianrhod is as intriguing as it is strange. Arianrhod's background is also unclear. Was she just a heroine in old Celtic story, a goddess who we know little of, or is she a villain? In the fourth branch of the Mabinogion, the King Math's life depended on a virgin holding his feet in her lap when he wasn't at war. His current virgin, Goewin, was raped by Gwydion and Gilfaethwy, the king's nephews when he left the court after the two created a war with another king, Pryderi (who appears multiple times in other branches). He married her as a result and punished his nephews by casting a spell upon them where the two have sex as animals, even bearing children. Without a virgin, however, his life is at stake. Gwydion suggests that his sister Arianrhod be the new virgin. She accepts, but to test her virginity, Math has her step upon a rod. Confident she is a virgin, she steps upon the rod and, much to her surprise, she gives birth to two sons: Dylan (who jumps into the sea) and Lleu who Arianrhod rejects and puts in a chest where he grows quite quickly. Gwydion takes a liking to the boy and helps him. She refuses to give him arms and a name, the duties of a mother at these times. Gwydion tricks Arianrhod into giving a name by having the boy kill a bird with a stone where she says that he struck with a deft hand, thus giving him a name (in a vague sense). To trick her into giving him a sword, Gwydion disguises himself and Lleu as bards and trick her into thinking her estate was under attack. She gives Lleu a sword since he was supposedly a good fighter, but then Gwydion reveals it was a trick. She curses him again so that he would never have a human wife, so Math, feeling pity, creates a woman out of oak, oak flowers, and a broom. She could be a Moon Goddess as she has a birth which fits the pattern of deities at the time and is a powerful sorceress. Her name means "Silver Wheel" too, giving further credit to the idea.
